Non Normative Lexicon Music Monday - Leningrad

New(ish) music from my favorite band - Leningrad ( now with a new lead singer, the talented Yulia Kogan)

Being from a somewhat younger generation of Russian emigre than you are, I'm not really familiar with contemporary russian music. It is fascinating to see this type of (rap music?) in russian for the first time.
BTW, do you know where she is from, this Yulia Kogan?

Hi Jewish,

I wouldn't call this rap, to me it's much more like punk ska. I discovered them through the soundtrack for "Everything is Illuminated".

I have no idea where Yulia came from. She used to head a jazz orchestra in St Petersburg but I have no idea how she got hooked up with Leningrad.
