Christ of the Andes gets zapped

Tobie points out that the figure is the highest thing on the top of a mountain peak and that really, this shouldn't be too rare an occurence. also, what's the symbolism in Christ getting zapped instead of crucified?

I suspect that this happens quite often which enabled the photographer to set up the camera in such a way that the lightning triggered the exposure. Otherwise, it's a heck of a lucky shot!

I don't know - maybe Zeus is taking potshots at him? :)

Well, it could be related back to the imagery of G-d reaching down to touch mankind in that classic painting, or the quickening from Highlander, the reception of great spiritual power.

I'm trying to be positive and less cynical.
