The Frozen Chosen
The first rabbi candidate is from Florida. He wound up coming here on the coldest day of the winter. The temperature dipped to -7F overnight with windchill around -30F.
About a year ago I decided to grow facial hair. This is the first time I was out in this kind of cold. The moisture from my breath frosted over in the mustache, and so by the time I'd come home I resembled a character from Dr. Zhivago or maybe a Jack London story.

LOL, that's hilarious. Where did you get that picture? Is it from a movie?
It's some picture of a guy taken at the North Pole. I tried to find a pic from Dr Zhivago, but no luck.
That is the greatest picture ever. First, it's ridiculously funny. Second, it was freezing in Chicago this past Shabbos. I went to shul and inwardly cursed my father as I walked, the wind tearing at my hair and reddening my cheeks. 'Why, oh why do I have to get up this early...walk this far...argh...' was pretty much my incoherent mumble. Someone described the weather as 'nippy.' I think I'd have to say it was biting.
Hey, the above was me mistyping. *sadness*
Argh. It was me. Blogger appears to hate me at the moment.
Ladygleam/Chana,
Did you go to Persian Congregation? I always feel sorry for those poor Sephardi/Mizrachi guys. They look so pathetic in the deep freeze for some reason. "Polar Jews" like myself just plod along - we're used to it I guess.
