The 7 days of Creation
Funny exchange between me and some commenters on the XGH blog:
XGH put up a post titled "The Six Days of Creation"
Anonymous commented: "correction: 7 days of creation."
I replied: "Except nothing was created on day 7?"
bankman said: "Shabbos was created on day 7"
I parried: "If Shabbos was created on day 7, then day 7 was not Shabbos."
We'll see how long we can keep it going....
BTW, no Music Monday today - I am taking requests for next week, though...

But is 'creation' by definition an act of melacha?
I suppose one could argue that 'creating shabbes' is an act of borer..... even though no 'selection' took place, rather a choice by abstention.
nolad?
Wouldn't that make it something that is asur?
But that only holds if what came into being is a thing.
Ideas that come into being on shabbes are not things, therefore not muktze. ;-D
On the other hand, one could argue that the act of creating shabbes was a pre-shabbatic act. Shabbes conditions did not hold till AFTER shabbes came into being, therefore the day on which shabbes was created could not possibly be shabbes, and ended the moment that shabbes began.
