Die Klonkriege
Why does it sound so evil in German?
Apropos, having a duel with lightsabers must feel really weird. I've actually tried fighting someone with a steel sword (not a real fight). It takes a lot of energy to swing those suckers for more than a few minutes. Plus, there is the fact that the sword has momentum - you can't just stop a swing without serious exertion. But a lightsaber is essentially weightless...

If you want to use a sword then you have to practice. I used to practice with a curved length of steel which in profile was much like those Chinese swords with the ring pommel like this one except it was not beveled much less sharpened and twice as thick as the real thing, hence a lot heavier.
After a while, you gain appreciation for the martial arts of the east where swords are concerned. A single edge blade with a good but dull back side allowed you to back the blade with your body without being cut, the curvature of most blades let you turn on a dime that way and still do a good draw/slice, and you could slice in an overhead power move but still quickly withdraw back in one fluid movement without undue exertion by practicing just such aborted moves.
I am not a fan of the European broadsword, especially the larger ones. They were made for mass infantry wearing armor and are just chopping weapons really. No artistry.
Good point. i was thinking Eurpoean swords. The oriental swords are much lighter. Still, imagine a sword made of light...
