7900 miles is a long way to kayak... Why do they have you start this part of your journey so far North on the U.S.? Is it their a drift or a tail wind in that direction?
Why kayak? I'd take a sailboat at least...

Oh, yay! I was reading through the directions and I had this irrational sympathy for the poor robot computer brain, carefully and methodically plodding its way through the process, unconscious of the ridiculousness of the whole thing in the grander scheme of human thought... and then it told me to kayak, and I was happy.
