Israel kicks Druze off their land - get ready for a Druze intifadah

Some 6,000 members of the Druze community rallied along Route 70 in northern Israel on Saturday in protest of the government's plan to seize lands belonging to the community in order to place a natural gas pipeline in the area.
Not a lot of this in the news for some reason, but does Israel really need to piss off the Druze, who have been loyal to them, served in their Army, etc... Apparently, unlike the displaced Arabs, the Druze won't even get any land somewhere else in the country...

Some good pics from a Russian-Israeli reporter here... I especially like the banner "B'dameinu nishmor al adamateinu"

also, another one here in jpost. Though, to my point, not a lot of coverage in MSM - 6000 druze is not a small crowd!

Does rather seem like a monumentally stupid thing to do.
Land, especially there, is an emotionally loaded issue.

I agree. Stupid move. The Druze are better friends than enemies. Heck, anyone would be better friend than enemy right now. Really really bad idea.
