Gogol Bordello is a multi-ethnic Gypsy punk band from the Lower East Side of New York City that formed in 1999 and is known for its theatrical stage shows.
I don't think I had ever heard of the movie before.
Really? I thought DovBear discussed it extensively a few years ago. The movie is great.
What's funny is that the other band supplying most of the soundtrack, Leningrad, is really hardcore - the lyrics are all full of terrible profanity and the thematic content is focused on sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll. But if you don't speak Russian, it just sounds like they're playing ska, mambo, dancehall, etc...
