They don't intentionally make it sound funky. They honestly believe that this is how things are gonna be. To an enlightened mind, it might appear funky.

Sounds a whole lot better than that lugubrious and verkrampte wailing in most churches.
I think Jews will always envy black people the ability to create good and original religous music. I always will.
