It's not easy being green...

George Bernard Shaw

And we are two worlds separated by a common religion...

I can't find the words...

I think if they were really being nonconformist, HE would wear the dress, and it would be in the Carmen Miranda fruit dance tropical style and she'd wear nothing. From the reaction, you'd swear that was precisely what happened.

Either they're way too conservative or they're fashion snobs.

Thanks for the link, but I'm a bit confused. Do you disapprove of the green dress, or do you disapprove of my post, or is it something else entirely.

Objecting to non-conformism?

I would offer that non-conformism is the very essence of being Jewish. There are nearly a billion Christians. Nearly a billion Muslims. And roughly fifteen million Jews. Many of whom live amidst Christians and Muslims.

Being a non-conformist is so much a Jewish thing that it pretty much has a halachic basis.

But there's an orthodoxy to the non-conformist minhag - woe if your nonconformism does not conform.

I suppose the best way to describe my reaction is bewilderment that such a discussion such as the one on imamother can happen at all.

Your post is right on!
