I have a friend doing a master's in translation and she says they did a drill for simultaneous translation in which they just tried to repeat, in the same language, what another person was saying. They discovered that it was generally possible to lag only a half a word behind the person since your mind could sort of guess where the sentence was going. Which meant that if the other person spoke complete nonsense, it was just about impossible.
Also, that man is going to lose at the very least his job. Poor guy.
I've never tried simultaneous translation. It sounds impossible to me, but I am sure it is a matter of training...
G'mar tov and an easy fast, Tobie.
