Literal creationists are wacky when Jewish, but absolutely totally frighteningly nuts when Christian. They literally obsess over it night and day to a degree that is scary.
Despite what some of the staunchest Torah literal inerrancy people believe, the Talmud still exists. No such thing in Born Again Christianity where this kind of idiocy thrives. The bible is literally true, even if it contradicts itself, and no interpretation (despite that inherent in translation from Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, and Latin) is permissible. It's simply the work of the Almighty who can do anything.
Which I suppose is why the modern UO world's lurching towards mindless conformity is so alarming. They're beginning to sound like the BACs who similarly ascribe all power to G-d, but do so in a way that clearly says you can have no relationship with G-d but what is handed to you, you should not dare to think of otherwise, and should just let other people think for you.
